Ep. 2 - Are You Focused?
MINISTRY MOMENT
God wants a relationship with you and with me. He doesn’t force us to come to Him. We aren’t His robots. He wants us to choose to come to Him and build a relationship with Him.
PRAYER POINT
Lord, please help me to be attentive, grateful, and focused on you and growing oblivious to distractions. Help me do the things I need to do to build a relationship with you.
GOING DEEPER
There are dozens of scriptures that point to God desiring a relationship with us. A common favorite is Matthew 11:28-29 where Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
WALK IT OUT
News, updates, notifications, emails, tasks for the day, texts, calls and more… these things may not be intrinsically bad, but I must give God priority. When a loved one calls me and I’m in a meeting, I’ll interrupt that meeting to make sure my loved one is ok, because my loved one is a priority.
SHARE WITH OTHERS
Consider distractions as attacks and/or the enemy’s attempt to take our focus off the Lord – ESPECIALLY during private devotions. Jesus charges us in Matthew 6:33 (NIV) says, “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” We live in a time where we have more distractions than perhaps any other time in history, but God and relationship with Him are so much greater.
