Ep. 745 - Turn the Light On
MINISTRY MOMENT
Light changes everything. When it enters a dark room, there’s no fight or competition...darkness simply disappears. The same is true spiritually. In 1 John 1:5–7, we are reminded that, “God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all…If we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, cleanses us from all sin.” Just like flipping on a light switch reveals what’s really happening in a room, letting God’s light shine in our hearts reveals the truth about our lives. Sometimes we try to hide guilt, shame, or sin in the shadows, but God doesn’t ask us to bring those things to the light to embarrass us, He asks us to bring them to the light so He can heal us. The light of God is where true freedom, forgiveness, and fellowship are found.
PRAYER POINT
“Lord, thank You that You are light and that darkness cannot stand in Your presence. Help me to stop hiding things from You and from others, and give me courage to bring my struggles, sin, and shame into Your light. Thank You that through Jesus, I am cleansed and set free. Teach me to walk daily in Your light and live in true fellowship with You and with others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
GOING DEEPER
Read and study the following. In 1 John 1:5-7, what does it mean to walk in the light? In John 8:12, Jesus says, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” In Ephesians 5:8-9, we are called to live as children of light. What areas of your life might you still be keeping in the dark?
WALK IT OUT
This week, choose one area where you’ve been tempted to hide something from God or others. Confess it in prayer and consider sharing with a trusted friend, leader, or spouse. Remember, bringing it into the light isn’t about shame, it’s about freedom and healing.
SHARE WITH OTHERS
Encourage someone this week by sharing how God’s light has set you free from fear, guilt, or shame. Your testimony may be the switch that helps them turn on the light in their own life.
