The people closest to you have the ability to have a MASSIVE impact on your life. They will either build you up, or break you down. You get to choose.

PRAYER POINT

“Dear God, I know You care deeply about friendship. Help me to be willing to separate myself from relationships that are building me up and pointing me towards Your truth. Help me to have the faith to step out and trust that YOU have new friendships in store for me even when I don’t see it. Help me to be a better friend to everyone around me, and be willing to step out of my comfort zone and be an encouragement to others.”

GOING DEEPER

Read and study Proverbs 18:24, 1 Corinthians 15:33 and 1 Thessalonians 5:11.

WALK IT OUT

Pause for a moment and self reflect - think about the friends that are closest to you today. Think about how you feel when you’re around them, and after you’ve spent time with them. Do you feel encouraged after spending time with them, or like you’ve been wrestling a gorilla?

SHARE WITH OTHERS

Next time you’re in conversation with a dear friend or close family member, ask them about their friendships. Ask them if the people closest to them are building them up or “draining their battery.”
