Ep. 957 - Defenses Down

Jun 12, 2026

MINISTRY MOMENT

I encourage you to reflect on a time when you noticed God providing defense for you. It might have come in the form of someone else telling the truth about you, the person unexpectedly dropping the issue or recognizing they were wrong, or something that felt really big in the moment becoming very small or insignificant quickly. It also might not be apparent to you in the moment, but looking back you can recognize that something you desperately wanted to fix/prove to someone was not the good thing you thought it was, and washing your hands of it or walking away from it was the Lord’s way of protecting you from a future disaster. You might be surprised at what you see!

PRAYER POINT

“Father, I come to You, hat in hand, confessing my desire to step out from under Your wings of loving protection. Thank You for continually gathering me back under Your wings. You know my inmost thoughts and the ‘knee-jerk reactions’ that are waiting to jump right out of my mouth. Help me to listen to Your voice, and allow You to be my defender. I submit to Your ways! Amen!”

GOING DEEPER

Read Psalm 91, and thank God for at least three times He’s protected you!

WALK IT OUT

Learn to be still and choose your response instead of reacting. Remember, you can always squeeze out more toothpaste but you can’t put it back in the tube! Listen to the whisper of the Holy Spirit. At work, when someone undermines you or tries to take credit for your work - let them. If questioned about your role, be truthful. God will defend you!

SHARE WITH OTHERS

I don’t know what this might look like for you, but I’ve shared my experience with several people over the last few weeks, and it’s opened up some interesting conversations on why I want to submit to God’s authority instead of running my own mouth and trying to convince others of my intentions. Thank You, God, for highlighting and using my weaknesses and tendencies to point to Your goodness!
