Ep. 541 - The Key to Thankfulness

MINISTRY MOMENT

In Colossians chapter 2, Paul teaches us what the key is to overflow with thankfulness. He says, “And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow Him. Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” So what’s the key to thankfulness? Paul says the first step is to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. This encouragement tells us that giving our lives to the Lord isn’t the last step in becoming a Christian, it’s the first step, and if we want to continually grow in Christ, we must be willing to CONTINUALLY follow Him, and build our lives upon Him. This means while our eternity is secured by the blood of Jesus when we repent and believe in Jesus Christ, God also calls us to build our lives on Him and make decisions that reflect that we have died to ourselves, and are now living for Jesus.

PRAYER POINT

“Father, help me stay thankful in all circumstances. May my roots sink deep into Your love and help me build my life upon You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
